Each and every day new mobile games are hitting the App Store, and so each week we put together a big old list of all the best new releases of the past seven days. Back in the day the App Store would showcase the same games for a week, and then refresh those features each Thursday. Because of that developers got into the habit of releasing their games throughout Wednesday or very early Thursday in order to hopefully get one of those coveted features spots. Nowadays the App Store refreshes constantly, so the need for everyone to release all on the same day has diminished. Still, we've kept our weekly Wednesday night format as for years that's the time people knew to check TouchArcade for the list of new games. If you've been mobile gaming for a long time and have been on a quest for the most Pokemon-like RPGs on the platform, then you're no doubt familiar with ZigZaGame. The studio has been one of the most prolific in trying to capture (see what I did there) the magic of a monster-catching RPG on mobile, with varying degrees of success. In 2012 they brought us Dragon Island Blue, a competent if uninspired monster-collecting affair.
About a year later they followed up with the spiritual successor Hunter Island, which was a much more consistent and enjoyable effort. Then in late 2015 they took their most recent stab at the genre with Neo Monsters, which was a high quality game in many ways but suffered by not fully deciding if it was a full-blown free to play social RPG or a more linear Pokemon-like. Now more than 3 years removed from that release ZigZaGame is back with another new monster-collecting RPG called Evertale, check out the trailer. The highlight is the offer of offline and online game modes. In the first case, the player can enjoy the story and free the world of Erden from an ancient curse, called "Pandemonium". If you prefer to play online, you can enjoy a PvP mode and battle against other players in real time. Evertale's debut, Of Dragons And Elves, was a real gem. Even with a few flaws, I regard it as my favorite power metal album of the past decade. So it was with great anticipation I started listening to their follow-up. The first time I heard that the title of their new album was The Great Brotherwar, I was excited that they might stay within the realm of Dragonlance.
